New Order duo to pen Cracker soundtrack
THE new series of Cracker starring Robbie Coltrane as police psychologist Fitz is sure to be must-see TV, but I hear members of Manchester band New Order will be getting an earlier viewing than most.
For drummer Stephen Morris and his wife, keyboard and guitar player Gillian, are writing the soundtrack for the Manchester-set series.
"I was a fan when Cracker was last on TV so it's great to be doing the music for the new series," Stephen says.
"The writer Jimmy McGovern asked us to do it. It also means we'll be two of the first people to see it."
The husband and wife team, who live in Cheshire, also got their radio DJ debut last month on 96.2 The Revolution - and have been asked back to do more shows in future.
"It was a bit nerve-wracking but a lot of fun," Stephen says.
