1-02 New OrderTemptation12" Version8:47Steve : We normally put Temptation towards the end, so that the fans know that we're going off in a bit. It can get a bit confusing because you get a bunch of songs that started with T: Temptation, True Faith, um, I can't remember any more. Windows Media

2-01 New OrderElegiaAlbum Version4:53Bernard : We did our UK tour and the last night we did at Heaven in Charing Cross and we had an after-show party which went on till 4am. And straight after that we went to the studio and worked 24 hours without any sleep and recorded Elegia. Windows Media

2-04 New OrderYour Silent FaceAlbum Version5:58Hooky : I remember we got the vocal line off a fucked-up riff that I played at a gig. And Bernard heard it and said, that riff's really good, you played it wrong but it sounds great. We'll use it as the vocal line for Your Silent Face. Windows Media

4-02 New OrderProcessionPolytechnic Central of London 6/12/853:37Steve: Procession, that era, you had to play it fast. I don't know why. It was like a competition with myself. Windows Media
4-03 New OrderEverything's Gone GreenTolworth Rec. Centre, Kingston, London 6 Dec 19855:06Hooky: The bloke who put us on, he and his partner were like the forerunners of all the raves, putting gigs on in weird places. They did these mystery tours, where you paid the money and then got on a coach and it took you to the gig. One was a castle in Southern England, but it pissed down so we couldn't play cos it was open air and they had to send everyone back. Windows Media
4-04 New OrderIn A Lonely PlaceGlastonbury Festival 20/06/815:15Hooky: It was absolutely freezing and it was the first time we used the laser. I think you can actually hear when the laser comes on because we stop playing and go, 'Whoa'. Windows Media

Release Notes
Titled "Recycle" and "IV" in the working process.

Limited edition of 12000 copies in the UK, 3000 copies in the US. This limited edition was done because of the fans' reaction at NewOrderOnline.com to the original 4 discs.

Disc 1: Pop by Miranda Sawyer

MIRANDA SAWYER

A journalist who took advantage of New Order's generosity as a teenager. Became a friend of the band in the 90s.

I had an out-of-body, lose-your-mind experience whilst dancing to New Order's Temptation. It was around 1984, at The Ritz, on Whitworth Street - halfway between Rotters and The Hacienda, in several senses. Anyway, I remember I danced for the entire seven minutes of the track - hurling myself around the highly sprung dance floor, looking like a maniac, but feeling like a shooting star. Which is the point of dancing. You know, I feel so extraordinary. . .

Disc 2: Fan by John McCready

JOHN McCREADY

Journalist and one time DJ. He met the band through the Hacienda and Rob Gretton. A friend since the late 80's.

At the time I was House Crusader Number One, drunk on the legacy of this music and its deep roots in disco. A zealot, I was troubled by New Order's thinly-veiled perversion of disco's dark electronic tributary and how they had taken our secret knowledge and twisted it backwards, combing it with a unique pop sensibility…

Disc 3: Club by Mike Pickering

MIKE PICKERING

The eponymous M of M People, A&R at Factory, DJ at the Hacienda for many years and long-time friend of the band.

Manchester and the UK music scene should be forever indebted to New Order. They were the pioneers of the fusion of rock and electronic music at a time it was considered unfashionable.

Disc 4: Live by Bobbie Gilespie

BOBBY GILLESPIE

Lead singer with Primal Scream. Friend of the band since the early 80's. Recently appeared on Rock the Shack featured on the album Get Ready.

The first time I saw New Order play was early 1981, in the Plaza Ballroom in Glasgow. It was a weird gig, because there was a huge expectancy about it. I'd seen Joy Division supporting The Buzzcocks in '79, and that was fucking good.
But then you had the whole drama of Ian Curtis killing himself, and then the Closer album and Love Will Tear Us Apart, and you thought, 'how the fuck do these guys follow this up?' So there was this whole mystery surrounding the gig - and the equipment kept breaking down, which was quite frustrating for Bernard.
The stage was surrounded by people: you could go behind the stage because there was a glass wall and there were loads of people there, and then everyone in front of them too. I remember Bernard came on with this Hitler youth haircut, white shirt with sleeves rolled up, and a black semi-acoustic guitar, brogues and grey trousers. He looked like Oscar in The Tin Drum. A crazy gig, really unusual, really weird, spooky. Dramatic.
