Release Notes
LTM present a second compilation of stone classic old school 80's electro and dance cuts produced by Be Music, the tag used by New Order, as well as Donald Johnson, Mark Kamins and Arthur Baker. Twice As Nice will also be available as a limited (1000 copies) DJ friendly double vinyl set.
Twice As Nice is the sequel to our hugely successful 2003 compilation Cool As Ice: The Be Music Productions. The tracks were produced between 1982 and 1986 for release on Factory Records, Factory Benelux and Les Disques du Crepuscule. Those marked with an '*' were jointly produced by Be Music (Bernard Sumner) and DoJo (Donald Johnson, of A Certain Ratio). '#' indicates DoJo alone, '%' indicates Mark Kamins, '&' indicates Arthur Baker. The others are all Be Music (New Order) productions. Several of these tracks, including Genius, Keep On Dancing and Cool As Ice remain influential club classics, and have been extensively sampled and bootlegged. Other classic old school dance cuts include the Madonna-connected Call Me Mr. Telephone, an ultra funky remix of QQ's Low Rider and both sides of the first, long-lost Factory single by 52nd Street, Express and Look Into My Eyes. The album also includes two prototypical sequencer tracks masterminded by Bernard Sumner in early 1982, long before Blue Monday changed music forever: one is an exclusive edit of the original version of 586 by New Order, and the second influential electro-pulse Sakura by Section 25. The album has been digitally remastered and runs for 72 minutes.
